been handed down about our churchyards.
About 150 yds south of Clonrush graveyard on the shores of Lough Derg are seven wells.
When the level of the lake was not so high four of them could be seen. The waters of the lake now flow over them. The story goes that a monk fleeing from the Danes was beheaded & his head struck the ground seven times & so seven wells sprung up.
The local families are all buried either in Clonrush or Iniscealtra.

  2. There is no ruined Castle in the district. The foundation of two - one in Dromaan & the other covered now by the waters of the lake could be ? years ago but now nothing remains & no one knows anything about them.
