For a hundred years or more there used to be a light seen on the road leading from Mountbrown to Aughagower on a little hill called Cilluagh. This little hill is in the of Deerpark, in the parish of Aughagower, in Co. Mayo. It is about a quarter of a mile from the Deerpark lake. The light has been seen by many of the neighbours of Aughagower. A few attempts were made by some of the neighbours of Aughagower to go as far as the light. When they came to the spot where the light was seen it disappeared and when they returned to Aughagower the light appeared again. For the last three years the light has not appeared so often. People say that there were soldiers buried there and that is the cause of the light.
