    the town. At last he took it. On the twenty eighth of May 1630, Cromwell left Ireland. He only spent months in Ireland altogether but he did enough in that nine months, that he knew that his soldiers would do the rest. When he left Ireland, he left Henry Ireton in command of the Puritan soldiers. Henry Ireton was married to Cromwell's daughter. The war lasted two years after that. But there was nothing but the Irish retreating before the English soldiers.
