- There was a woman long ago and she came to a fisherman's house to go to the well. She was dressed in a man's suit, and the pedlar came that night to this house. The woman rose early in the morning and when she was ready to go the woman of the house went a while with her to show her to the well. The pedlar got out of bed then and he went to the well and he killed the woman at the well. She had a great many rings on her finger and he took them off and put them in his pocket. The pedlar came back to the house again. A strange man came to the house and he saw the pedlar and he and the pedlar started putting bets on one another with the gold stuff.
