    The drills are opened with a spade or plough. Timber ploughs are not used in this district now, but they were used long ago. They were used about ten or fifteen years ago. They were made out of (Iron) timber (Spades) but the coulter and socke were made out of iron. Spades used to be made in this district by a man called Brady he lived between Tubber and Crusheen and it is that the spades he made were better than the spades you would buy.
