    ask the people to buy some of the articles. The people nearly always buy something from them. Some of them come asking alms. The tinkers that come to this place most frequently are: The Doyle's, Casey's, McCarthy's, and Delaney's. The men make tin buckets, saucepans, and cans and they also go around mending broken candlesticks, buckets and other tin articles. When some of them come to the house they ask for a few pence, a piece of meat, a head of cabbage a sup of milk, a piece of bread or a grain of flour.
