- There are many legends told about "Coumshingaun" Lake" this is one I heard from my father.
It is said that every seven years a horse comes out of "Coumshingaun Lake" and shakes itself on the bank. It is said if a person digs where the horse shakes herself, she will find a crock of gold.

- Once upon a time St. Patrick was in Cutteen, the people invited him to a dinner. They gave him a dog to eat, when he uncovered the dish on which the dog was he made the sign of the cross. The dog instantly came to life. He ran out the door and made a gap through the mountain which is now called "Beárna Madra" St.(continues on next page)
