    There was a man and his wife living in the south of the Co. Wexford...

    There was a man and his wife living in the south of the Co. Wexford, and they used to be always fighting and swabbling
    One day they fought and fought and it was awful fighting altogether and they fought all day and all the next night. At last however they stopped an' the husband asked the wife when on earth would there be peace in the house. "Well" says the wife we cannot give up fighting yet for I'm in a fairly good humour for it". "I'll tell you what we can do. we'll stop fighting now until the cuckoo comes, and when we hear the cuckoo we will start again." The wife didn't like the idea of stopping the fighting but she thought that it would be a good plan. So they both consented to give up
