  1. Among the hills of Ballyedmond, many years ago, there dwelt an old woman, and her only daughter. Their memory still remains, and old people are often heard telling stories about them.
Ballyedmond hill now overlooks the Midletown Flour Mills. One night as this girl was about to retire to rest, she was mysteriously taken, and was put resting on a grave, between two tomb stones in "Dangan" Churchyard.
It is said to be oldest Churchyard in Munster, and the second oldest in Ireland. At that time it was a custom with all the natives, to visit "Dangan Forge" every night, and to remain there until about mid- night card-playing and colloguing.
A small grey man who was bent with age also lived in Castletown. He always kept up the custom of visiting the forge. This night he remained very late, and as he passed the Churchyard, he heard a moan.
