    from Castlebar.
About eleven hundred years ago there was a castle in Manulla. It was situated in Mr Stauntons field and the ruins of it can be seen to day. There lived in this castle a queen whose name was queen McNull.
According to tradition the Danes came and attacked the castle and killed many people and the dead bodies were piled in a portion of the castle, and were left unburied.
