    starlings, cranes, wagtails, cormorants, bull, finches, chaffinches, sea-gulls, swift, water-ousel, corncrake, titmouse, stone-chat, bat, linnet.
    The birds that migrate are wild-goose, cuckoo, swallow, corncrake. The crow builds his nest on top of a tall tree, its made of sticks, moss and wool. The eggs are of a bluish colour and the crow sits on them until the young ones are out. The swan lays her egg in the sand near the sea. The heat of the sun hatches it. The magpie builds in a leafless tree or hedge and the outside of the nest is covered with thorns. The sparrows and the wren build in the thatch of a house. The blackbird builds in a bush. The cuckoo makes no nest but through the wood she strays until finds a cosy nest and she lays one egg in it. The swallow builds her nest in the ruins of an old house, or barn.
    It is said that at one time there was only one fire in the north. This fire had to be kept always burning or if it quenched they had nothing to light it again, and for that reason
