Ar an leathanach seo
- Shops were not common in olden times. The people had to go to the nearest town to purchase goods. Buying and selling was carried on after Mass in olden times. The articles that were sold in this way were tea sugar, tobacco and flour.
Money was not always given for goods; sometimes they were bartered and labour was also given for them. The words that were conected with buying and selling were "boot" "tick" and "sant". It was considered unlucky to do business on certain days. The days thought unlucky was Friday.
The is an account of hucksters, pedlers, and dealers in feathers and rags who visited the district in former times and some of them still come.
