The older people in Orlar attended Mass in
Orlar while Friar Sharkey was residing there one of them being Mrs. Bridget Nyland of Orlar who died in 1919 at the age of 88 years. The chalice of Orlar was a well known story. When Cronells [Cromwell's] soldiers were looting the chalice was thrown into the lake in a box to escape descreation [sic] and supposed to be recovered afterwards.
