If a person visits a house when the people are making a churning they are supposed to help to make the churning or if they do not they will bring the butter. It is also said that if a person brings a coal out of the house when the churning is being made that they will melt the butter. Long ago there was a woman who went to a house for a riddle while the people were making a churning. When she went in she said “God bless the work” but she did not take the churn-dash and after she went out they could not get any butter because she made a charm and brought the butter. People throw salt on the churn because it is an old custom.
