- (continued from previous page)The most of the houses are thatched, except my own house and James Slattery's house. There are not much people in this district over 70 years of age. Some of them can speak Irish. These are their names - mrs. Leddy, Mrs. Duggan, Mr. Patrick Doherty, James McGrath. All these live in Gortnaskehy, Araglen, Kilworth, Co. Cork.
Houses were a lot more numerous in this district long ago. The most of these houses are in ruins now. The people emigrated to foreign countries such as America and England.
A portion of the land is hilly, boggy, and the most of it is good. There is a wood growing in this district known as Gleann na Choice. It is about twelve acres in size.
There is an old story told about this wood. The story is - there is a big cave in the wood called - The Red Cloaked Woman's Cave. In this cave there is gold supposed to be hidden by the O'Byrnes. (These people were robbers) Anyone that would(continues on next page)- Collector
