  1. A journey to Lucan to hear Father Mathew preach. An Adventure of the Fourties.
    It was in the year 1842 in the month of June that Joan and Charles Bray were on a visit to Dublin. In the slow-motion days of those far-away forties, travelling was not as cheap and luxurious as a century of progress had made it, and to Joan and Charles a trip to Dublin was, as to their neighbours, the event of a lifetime.
