    About a quarter of a mile north east of the above mentioned graveyard is St Catherines well. None of the old people still living can recall anything about the origin of this Holy Well. They say that long ago it used to be a place of pilgrimage for the people of this district and that many cures were wrought there and that many cures were wrought there and that many petitions were granted to the people who went for that purpose.
    It was said that many Churches were founded in this parish by St. Patrick and St. Columcille but that are now in ruins.
