  1. The Alt is a huge mound near the chapel in Ardaghy. It was famous in by gone days for beside it was the last or mass house.
It was knocked down only two years ago, on the other side was a mass rock still standing.
Fairies were said to frequent this lonely spot. Miss Shannon and her brother Tom say they still see fairy lights at night and say that the gravel is sometimes removed from the street about the house.
Story told by Miss Ann Shannon, Ex N.T. Legan.
Ann Shannon who is 70 states that her grandmother Peggy Harvey's mother met one of the fairy woman.
She called for a dish of meal. They were not in good circumstances at the time but the old woman gave the meal.
The fairy woman said the[y] would never want and Miss Shannon states that this was true. They never wanted and still live comfortably at the foot of the Alt.
