    The fairies are supposed to live in spynx. In moon light nights they used to be seen out dancing and the fiddle was often heard playing in the sphynx. There is a sphynk in the townland of Meenagowan it is bordering a lake. The school children used to pull the water lilies for the teacher. One morning two boys Robert Elliott and John Elliott were going out into the lake to pull lilies when they werte out they heard a fiddle playing in the sphynx. They got afraid and they never went near the lake to pull lilies again.
