    He sat down as he was tired. It was on a large stone he rested his feet and when he got up the print of his feet were left there. This print can be seen at the present day.
    There is a well dedicated to his honour in Lismore. The water in this well is supposed to cure sore eyes or any skin troubles as St Carthagh blessed it to help the lepers.
    Very little remains to show that St Carthagh made Lismore the seat of learning in Munster. Parts of the Protestant Cathedral are supposed to contain portion of the original church which was founded by St Carthagh. It is said that whenever the Danes or the Normans pillaged or burned the town or monastery the most extraordinary means were adopted to save the Cathedral from destruction.
