  1. I heard these stories from my Father whose age is about fifty-five.
    He heard this one from his Father who was still alive when my father was forty years.
    His father would not allow him to burn the "cairn" on his rough grazing.
    It is a great big round hill surrounded by bushes and the reason of it not being burnt because it is "gentle" and it is said that fairies lived there long ago.
    Before my Grandfather's time there was a man who tried to root out the whin-bushed. After working hard for three days he went home and went to his bed and died. The people of his day said the cause of his death was because he disturbed the fairies in this cairn.
