  1. I heard the following story about the Star of Gortin from Mr Francis Mongan. It is a big white stone in Mr Lindsay's field in the townland of Gortin. The people say there is a chief buired under it. It is called the Star of Gortin because no matter how dark the night is it can be seen shining for a long distance from you. It is about one hundred yards from the side of the road on the left hand side. The road I mean is the road leading from Raphoe to Clady.
