    On the digger there is a round shaped spade.
    When the horses start to draw the digger the spade cuts the bottom of the drills and loosens the clay.
    Then a round wheel with iron prongs on it goes round and scatters the clay from the potatoes.
    Then they are gathered in buckets and put in pits.
    When the pits are made they are thatched with rushes and clayed all over to prevent the frost from destroying them.
    The most common kinds of potatoes in our district are Aran Banners, Kerr's Pinks; Aran Victors, Aran chiefs and Dates.
    These are a main crop potato and are Harvested in the late Autumn.
    Early potatoes are grown such as Ruby Queens, King Edward's Suttens; Irish Dates and Beauties
