  1. These games were taught to the children by their parents - who had in their childhood played the same games. The airs also have been handed down by the old people:
    I.
Stands a lady on a mountain
Who she is I don't know.
All she wants is gold & silver
And a nice young man you know.
(children stand in ring while singing this - one child stands in centre)
    Pick him out love
    Pick him out love.
Pick him out love - farewell.
(Child in ring chooses one) Both children in 'ring' now say:-
Open the gates and let the bride through.
    Children in ring answer:-
Not till you show you're black and blue.
    Two chn say:-
Here's my black and here's my blue
Open the gates & let me through -
Two children go out of ring and chn in ring chant - Go to Church love
    Go to Church love
Go to Church love - farewell.
