- (continued from previous page)the holy seasons except on St. Patrick's Day. The particular season when most marriages took place was between Christmas and Lent. Any young lady not married during the season was long ago chalked on "Chalk Sundy" in Lent also, called "Puss Sunday" - 1st Sunday in Lent as the Ladies not married were expected to feel disappointed and sulky.
