Ballinasloe. - 3. Long ago bread was made from black flour and they used to grind the wheat at home. Boxty bread was made from oatmeal, water and salt. Griddle bread was made from flour and butter milk. It was put on a round flat lid with a handle on each side. The griddle was put on a little stand made of iron and put beside the fire with the cake on it to bake. They put a cross(continues on next page)
