    This story was told by my father and it was told to him by my grandfather. He was 89 years and he died in 1937. Caherdevane got its name from a black bird. It is one of the oldest villages in this district. It was said that when Athenry was living built the masons used to come to this village for lodging. There is a few forts to be see to the present day where the Tuatha De Dannan went in hiding from the Milesians
