    The patron saint of the district is St. Brendan . . .

    The patron saint of the district is St. Brendan. He was born in Tralee in the year 484. He was ordained priest in the year 512. Immediately after his ordination he began to found churches and monasteries, amongst the most notable being Clonfert and Ardfert as he is Patron saint of Ardfert also.
    St Brendan is known as being a voyager as he visited many foreign lands where he taught
