  1. Famine Times
I got this folklore from my Uncle.
The cause of the famine was that the year before it the potatoes were very plenty and the people piled them in heaps against the walls. It seems that God got vexed and they all decayed in the ground. It is said that an old man went in to some house in Bullaun and he told the woman of the house that he did not eat a bit for three days. The woman of the house put down a pot of porridge for him. When he had the porridge eaten he started off and he lay down int he side of the road and died. There was also an old woman got dead round Bullaun.
