- It was a(n) custom about sixty years ago to be playing games at wakes. A great man for playing these games was Martin Fahy. He used to play what is the “láip bán.”
He used to make a horse of four men and put a straw head on it. Then he used to spread a sheet on them. He used to go up riding on them then with a heavy stick. They used to make a tall hat and put it on his head. Then he used to go up riding on the horse and beat everyone he could catch. He used to have a rope tied across the door, and when they would be running out they used to be knocked out in the street.
Another game he used to play was he used to sit in the middle of the floor and gather all the people around him. Then he used to get a sod of turf and be pretending to be making shoes. Then he used to ask them in turn was(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
