    The breakfast consisted of porridge and buttermilk or sheerins, and before having it they worked about three hours.
    The dinner consisted of potatoes and salt and new milk or buttermilk and sometimes a herring.
    They had no lunch only a supper of potatoes and scim-milk or porridge, and between meals they had a mug of sweideen when they got hungry.
    When eating the parents of the family sat round the table in the centre of the floor and the children sat round a scib and when not in use it was hung up to the loft by ropes.
