- (continued from previous page)When sheep come down from the mountain to seek shelter in hollow places and behind hedges it is a sign of great storm. Hearing foxes crying at night foretells a great storm. When crows fly high in the hair and fall head long to the ground it portends rain. When mountain streams are heard it foretells rain. A rainbow in the morning is a sign of rain before night. A mist on the lake usually foretells rain. The noise of the rivers foretells rain. If the cat sits with her back to the fire she is (prod) predicting snow. If the larks fly high there will be a good week of sunshine. If there is a blue blaze in the turf fire there is also a storm coming. If there is mist on Sean Fleann there is good weather coming The sheen on the rocks in a bad sign. If a mist rises from Glenade Lake there will be rain.
