    owned by an ORourke a direct decendent of Owen ORourke and has passed from father to son since that time. This slab was cast for Owen O Rourke.
    On the slab also are the figures of a lion and a cat being the coat of arms of the O Rourkes. There is a story as to why the cat is incarved on the slab. At one time one of the O Rourkes chief of Leitrim was returning home from battle. Tired and weary he lay down to rest, while his gallow-glasses went ahead.
    The enemy was approaching, and a spotted cat jumped on the hand of O Rourke and wakened him. From that forth the cat has been a prime favourite in the house of all O Rourkes, while it is still considered unlucky for an O Rourke to kill or injure a cat.
