- The houses of olden days in this locality were made of clay and commonly called "mud cabins." These houses are still to be seen and are inhabited by the poorer people of the district.
Others were made of "scraw" which was found in "keeby" ground near bog land. More were thatched with rushes and rushes which were found on rivers and lakes.
