    The Lindseys were planters and built a house on the shore of Lough Allen about a quarter of a mile from Drumshambo.

    His wife's name was Gibbons. and Bartley's great grandfather on his mothers side was Bartley Gibbons. The Gibbons owned that southern part of Deffier called "The Island" "Innis [?]". This island was formed by the two [?] of the old Shannon.
    The Moffits settled onthe other side of the Shannon in Roscommon where Gibbons had a small piece of land. Here they increased and today many of the name live in the Druimboylan district. The Gibbons family are [?] in Diffier with relations in Leitrim and Roscommon.
    The Hamiltons lived in Drumkeelan and were free holders. The house is today occupied by Thomas Mulvey.
    They had tenants and a man called Mc Dermott owned one hundred acres in Kilamaraha. Mc Dermott married Jane Hamilton the last of the Hamiltons above seventy or seventy five years ago. He became a Catholic at marriage. Her brother in law Arthur Mc Dermott owned the "Bush Hotel" in Carrick on Shannon. Jane Hamilton's husband died and
