- The name of our townland is Foxborrough. There is only one house in it now, owned by John Beirne. Years ago there were about fifty families living in it during the famine time. The ruins of the old houses are still there and the old roads which divided it are still to be seen. The farm is surrounded by three roads which form a cross roads at two different points. One of these roads is now called a "boheen" it was the principal road for the mail Coach to travel from Mohill to Carrick-on-Shannon and on too Sligo. There is a fort here which is remarkable because of its three mounds or rings.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
