The most common wild birds of this district are as follows:- the Robin, the Wren, the Goldfinch, the Bullfinch, the Crow, the Magpie, the Jackdaw, the Pigeon, the Hawk, the Woodcock, the Partridge, the Grouse, the sea-gulls, the Swallow, the Cuckoo, the Corncrake, the Wild-goose, the Snipe, the Wild Duck, the Swan, the Willie Wagtail and the Stonechecken.
    The robin is a small bird and is noted for his red breast. Robins are plentiful in the district and they are good singers
