  1. There are six forges in our parish. The one I know best is Michael Casey's in Tiershannahan. His father worked there before him.
    It is built with stone and mortar. It is thatched with straw it is a small house with a door.
    There are bits of iron out side the door. There is a big fire place in it and a tub of water near it to cool the irons when they are hot. He has a big bellows to blow the fire when he wants to redden it.
    He repairs ploughs, harrows, and gates and other things. He has a big flat flag outside the forge for ironing wheels.
    The people bring a rail of turf to iron the wheels. He makes a big fire, and puts the iron into it. Forge water is kept by
