- Towards the end of Maurice Kerin's life, he became a journeyman and travelled into Limerick where he died at a place called Ballyhahill far from the relatives and friends of his youth. He had a great desire to be buried in Keel, and he made a poem on his death bed which consisted at first of 14 verses.
