  1. There is an old legend that a crock of gold lies buried in Sir William Godfrey's demense. It seems that the old gentleman who lived in the residence had a crock of gold which he ordered his servant man to have buried. He watched him do so and fearing he might tell somebody else about it he shot him so at to prevent him from giving away the secret.
    A long time afterwards some men went to look for the gold but they had to abandon their task as they were chased by a bull whose eyes shone like lanterns. He was not supposed to be a living beast but one from the other world.
