    In the year 1877 there lived adjoining my present home a man named Paddy Preston.

    In the year 1877 there lived adjoining my present home a man named Paddy Preston. It was in the November of that year that Preston took ill and in his house there lived a cousin of his. Gradually Preston got worse and the weaker he got the more he insisted on my grandmother to take him into her house, until he would die easy. The bother and upsetting of a house in which there is a death prevented her. My grandfather and grandmother kept constant watch and attendance on him during his illness and on this particular night, on the advice and perseverance of some friends who came to see the dying man, they retired to rest for a few hours.
