home and went to the field with
a spade. He dug on the East side
three foot and came to a flag which
he lifted up and under it was an
oven of gold. He took it home and
kept it safely in the house.One night a poor scholar who
was on his way to ...... called to
the house for lodgings for the night. The
man gave him lodgings and when eating
their supper out of the oven the poor
scholar saw there was some Irish
written on it. And the man asked him
what it meant. The poor scholar said
it meant; "There is as much on the
West side of the tree as on the East
side". Next day when the scholar had
left the man went to the tree again
and dug on the West side. He dug
three foot and then he saw a flag
which he lifted up and under it was
an other oven of gold.He took it home and the news
of his good fortune soon spread far and
