  1. About a hundred years ago, a man lived in this district. He was very fond of fowling at very late hours. One night as he was passing along the strand near Brosty,, he saw an old woman at a spinning wheel. He saluted her, and said "what a late hour you are working". She answered "Pass on, and mind your own business." The man went on his way. A little further on, his way he saw a rabbit jumping over the fence. He aimed at it with his gun and filled it. When he went to pick it up there was no rabbit there. Before the man had time to think, he fell on the spot paralysed. He lay there till morning. Some people found him and took him home. Then for years afterwards he went around on crutch. The desire for fowling was still in this man, and years afterwards he asked his friends to take him to a place where he might get a few shots
