  1. In olden times people lived on three meals a day: breakfast, dinner and supper. They worked a few hours before breakfast and then had potatoes and sour milk for breakfast, if they got bread it was considered a great treat.
    For dinner potatoes were the chief food, and perhaps a little meat or fish and for supper potatoes or yellow meal gruel. Sour milk was the only milk drank in bygone days. Yellow meal bread made in squares on a griddle, was the bread of that time. Tea was never heard of: wooden cups were used for drinking purposes.
