  1. An Old Song

Ye brave boys of bordal ye made a great stand

A great song was made about Dick Walshe's eviction by Eugene O'Mara of Ardmona, Cordal.

    (I)
Ye brave boys of Cordal ye made a great stand
Ye worked night and day to keep Walshe in his land.
In that beautiful cot by the side of the road
Where the black-birds and thrushes were heard in the grove.

    (II)
There were policemen from Dublin from Cork and from Clare
From Caherciveen and a place called Kenmare
From Killorglin and Dingle, Tralee, Gortatlea
    Limerick, Newcastle and around Abbeyfeale.

    (III)
When they came to Kilmurry they got great surprise
When they saw there before them the Cordal brave boys
The County gave halt when they came to the grove
They were blocked by a tree that was laid in the road.

    (IV)
The battering Ram it had no room to pass
With the great crowd of people - that stood at the cross
The policemen and bailiffs their movements were seen
When they showed them the way through Tom Cragg's boreen.
Carrol McCarthy, Watt and Quitteen, their photos were taken going down through the lawn
Without shirts but old mufflers they bought in the pawn.
