  1. Once upon a time a young boy in this locality was coming home from Thomastown. It was very late and the boy was very nervous.
When he was passing Jerpoint Abbey he heard lovely music, and he followed it to the rath in Monarue. Here he saw a lot of fairies playing music. He forgot all about his home and danced with the fairies.
The way he danced he pleased the fairies so much that they gave him a bag of gold and sent him home.
