  2. In the nights people gather round the fireside putting riddles to one another. These are a few of the riddles which they tell by the fireside now.
    Four ladies thin and tall one in duty for them all one goes in and the other goes out and still they all goes round about.?
    A set of knitting needles in a stocking.
    What is it that is no good unless it is broken.?
    Ans An Egg.
    As white as milk as black as ink and it hops on the ground like hail-stone.?
    Ans A Magpie
