  1. A man who has a spell of prosperity for which his jealous neighbour cannot account in any natural way is said to have caught a Leipreachán. This is a weeny man wearing a green coat and yellow cap. He is always busy hammering away at an old shoe by his side a "cruiscín" of mountain dew. Should you wish to get his purse of gold, as soon as you spy him, hold him fast not only with your hand but also with your eyes, for he is most elusive and takes a cruel pleasure in thwarting the designs of those wishing to possess
