  1. About 60 years or so ago, John Ahearne, the Knight of the Teapot, visited this place regularly, about once a year.
    He travelled in on ass and cart & carried his own bed & bedding. He put up in houses in the district. He might spend 3 or 4 nights in one district, but never stopped the 2nd night in the same house.
    Some gentleman got the cart made for him & gave ass & harness. The cart was painted slate-colour & the painter painted a teapot & the inscription "Knight of the Teapot" in white
