  1. Many years ago there was a fair in Castlebar and a man and his wife were going to it with a cow. The man went with the cow about five o'clock in the morning. When the woman had some of her jobs done she went.
    She took a short cut across the fields. It was very early in the morning and when she was passing Connelley's fort she heard a child crying and fairies dancing and laughing in the fort.
